The inspection of the left engine soon shows that it is not a real fault. Ice which is formed in a fuel pipe blocks the passage of gasoline. After about an hour the problem is solved and the engine is restarted.

The sun shines in a slow circle around the horizon, while the hours pass. The speed of advance towards the Pole is about 72 km / h. The monotony of the desert pack, sometimes flat and smooth but often bumpy and disjointed, is interrupted by some fractures that show the blue and gray reflections of the sea. From time to time you can see, on the ice, the long tracks typical of the increasingly rare polar bears.
